Job Summary

Perform basic, routine and advanced implementation, operation and maintenance of computer systems for extensive computer labs, sub-enterprise and enterprise systems; provides scripting for a variety of computer systems; administer and troubleshoot server domains; troubleshoot communications, video and network problems; research and evaluate software, hardware and peripheral purchase options; act as expert functional specialist; act as liaison between Information Technologies and the Institution by providing basic, routine, and advanced level technical expertise while working under minimal supervision. Perform, monitor and report backups and disaster recovery across the community college district.

Education/Qualifications

Associate degree or higher in a technology related field or equivalent experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Current computer and telecommunication technologies.

Current operating system technologies.

Current Office application and end user functions.

Operation of popular software packages, utility programs, and service aids.

Effective troubleshooting techniques.

Computer & video, systems.

Capabilities and limitations of current software, hardware and telecommunication systems.

Computer security systems, password, and file protection protocol.

Basic and routine LAN systems.

Basic and routine network protocols and topologies.

Current physical data plant installation standards and techniques.

Powershell Scripting commands

SAN Technologies and administration

Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)

Symantec Backup Software or similar backup solutions

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

Standard office environment; routinely exposed to video terminal display; operates within a high stress environment;

May require being on call 24 hours per day

May travel occasionally to conferences, workshops, or outreach areas for professional development

Long periods of standing

Ability to lift 75 pounds from floor to desk and desk to floor

About Northern Wyoming Community College District

Experience

Two years’ supporting computer systems in a large scale network environment; required

Two years of computer operating system install, maintenance and upgrade

Two years of network cable plant installation

Three years of computer hardware installation, repair and maintenance

Serve as a technical resource to the institution; provide basic and routine technical assistance and advice to faculty, staff, and students with computer, data or telecommunications related hardware, software, and peripheral questions by phone or in person.

Troubleshoot computer problems and provide technical expertise for all institutional computers; respond to system failures; oversee installation, modification, and testing of new network systems software and hardware to insure operational status of computer networks; coordinate maintenance of networks and correlating computer systems

Confer with and advise faculty, staff, students, and other personnel concerning computer information requests, services and needs; maintain production support for systems by working with customers on upgrades, enhancements or new products.
