Job Summary

Manage and oversee the administration and maintenance of Windows servers throughout the district; administers and troubleshoots domain services; administers and troubleshoots enterprise communication services; researches and evaluates software, hardware and peripheral purchase options; act as expert functional specialist; acts as liaison between Information Technologies and the institution by providing basic, routine, and advanced level technical expertise while working under minimal supervision.

Education/Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or five years’ experience in server or systems administration required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Current computer and telecommunication technologies.

Microsoft Systems and Server technologies.

Windows 2008/2012 Server technologies.

Computer security systems, password, and file protection protocol.

Basic and routine LAN systems, network protocols and topologies.

Current physical data plant installation standards and techniques.

Windows Powershell Scripting commands

Storage technologies and administration

Troubleshoot and resolve basic and routine computer operations, common software problems and network connectivity problems.

Meet demanding timelines.

Install, maintain, and configure basic and routine software, hardware and peripherals.

Read and comprehend technical information relating to proprietary software, hardware, peripherals, and computer or telecommunications hardware.

Communicate basic and routine technical information clearly and concisely both written and orally.

Establish effective working relationships with users, operators, programmers, vendors, and supervisors.

Research industry trends and technology developments, and provide recommendations.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

Potential for 24 hour on call

Some night and weekend work

Move 75 pounds from floor to desktop and desktop to floor.

Experience

Two years supporting Windows Server systems

Two years supporting Microsoft Exchange

Two years supporting domain level, enterprise services (Active Directory, Domain Controllers, Email services)

Three years of computer hardware installation, repair and maintenance.

Job Duties

Responsibility/Duty

Oversee installation, modification, and testing of enterprise system software and hardware to insure operational status of enterprise systems.

Administer and maintain all domain level server systems including, but not limited to, email services, authentication services, domain controller services and communication services.

Serve as a technical resource to the institution; provide basic and routine technical assistance and advice to faculty, staff, and students with computer, data or telecommunications related hardware, software, and peripheral questions by phone or in person.

Oversee virtual server/desktop environment and including testing, installation and maintenance of this environment.
